The village's most celebrated sight is the Ross Bridge, the third-oldest in Oz. Commissined in 1831 as a replacement for a log bridge upstream, its aristocratic Georgian design was designed by John Lee Archer, but the carvings that adorn its three arches were the inventions of two convict stone-masons, highwayman Daniel Herbert and burglar James Colbeck. The stone sqiggles are intended to represent Celtic deities, flora and fauna, and also weathered of the sculptors'mates (innkeepers and fellow convicts) andenemies (officers and governors).
